Our Ethos

At Greenfield Training Band we strive to give members the best possible start in their musical journey. The emphasis is on having fun and our aim is to teach not only instrumental skills but also a broad foundation in musicianship. We play games and do other activities to support our learning. It's definitely not "sit there and do as I say"!!

Both sessions are run by our Musical Director Tom Haslam who is a professional brass teacher. Please click here for more information.

We have two groups which meet on a Saturday morning. The Greenfield Groovers band (10am- 11am) is for Children who have lessons elsewhere but would like to join a band and the Beginner Buglers Band (9.30am - 10am) for absolute new starters. Both groups are for children aged 7 upwards. Both sessions cost just £3. We are a not for profit organisation and any money that we make will be invested straight back into the training band.

Although we do have a limited number of instruments which we can lend out we don't have a huge resource. Don't let not having an instrument put you off please contact us and we can point you in the right direction. It's probably less expensive than you think.

Although the Beginner Buglers Band is for teaching new starters it is only for the very basics. At some point children will need formal lessons. Your choice of teacher is very important. The best people to ask about lessons are either your child's school or music service.
